We are all tired of hearing "you need to put your oxygen mask on first" and yet, it is one of the most useful advice anyone can give a parent.
How do we actually get to do this? That's a whole different question and one that has led to a lot of answers, many of which include bubble baths, lots of chocolate, spa retreats and other fancy self-care tips and tricks.
Ultimately, what our experience showed us that for our kids to be well, we, the parents, need to be well. And that means that we feel we have the knowledge, the confidence and the mental&emotional strength to face the world and its challenges.
...and this is what our workshop are all about - exploring the topics the parents deal with on a daily basis:
- understanding neurodiversity
- self care
- alternatives to rewards-based parenting
- post-diagnosis support
- school related anxiety
- parenting gifted children
- advocating for our children.
Workshops details
Workshops are held regularly in North County Dublin (Swords) and/ or Duleek, Co. Meath.
Each workshop will be 2-3 hours long and will include a 45 minute presentation on the topic, a quick coffee break and then facilitated discussions on the topic.
We offer one sponsored (fully free) place to each of our workshops.
In this training we will learn about the importance of emotional regulation and how to support neurodivergent children to navigate the challenges on a daily basis.
Neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Giftedness, Dyslexia) often experience their emotions more intensily and face challenges in managing them. After this workshop you will be able to detect emotional dysregulation and learn tools to support your children.
Technology is probably one of most controversial topics in parenting. When thinking about the technology usage for our neurodivergent children, many parents face guilt, worry and/or conflicting emotions. Join us in this workshop to discuss day-to-day challenges and various helpful approaches.
In this workshop we look at the supports available for families as well as different approaches that can assist us when dealing with extended family/ schools/ doctors/ etc
Navigating complex and conflicting needs is often the biggest challenges families face. In this workshop we will discuss the challenges and respectful approaches that any family can try.
Holidays Season can be overwhelming for us all. In this workshop we will discuss how to minimise the guilt that can come for designing holiday season based on our family's needs and not on other's wants!
This workshop is an introduction to Neurodiversity & the parenting approach that is neuroaffirming. It addresses parents who are at the beginning of their journey or members of extended family who want to learn more.
In this workshop we explore strategies that help us strengthen our relationship with our children in a way that is respectful to everyone's neurotype. We discuss real-life situations and allow time for in-depth discussions from participants.
In this workshop we look at the wellbeing of the entire family and discuss ways we can care for different (often conflicting) needs of different members of our family.
